Nacro 020 7840 6464 or 0800 0181 259 (Freephone for prisoners only) - Information and advice for people with a criminal record, ex-offenders, serving prisoners, their friends and families. Monday- Friday 9am-5pm;

 

National Domestic Violence Helpline 0808 2000 247 - Freephone 24 hour national domestic violence helpline, provide support to women who are or have experienced domestic violence.

 

Prisoners Families Helpline  0808 808 2003 - Service for anyone who is affected by the imprisonment of a close family member or friend. 9.00am - 5.00pm Monday - Friday, 10.00am - 3pm Saturday

Samaritans 08457 90 90 90  - offer support, at any time of the day, to anyone in the UK and Ireland who is in distress, including those who may feel suicidal.

Family Rights Group 0808 801 0366 - advises, advocates and campaigns for families whose children are involved with, or need, social care services. We provide confidential telephone advice and support for parents and family members, including grandparents who are raising grandchildren who cannot live at home.  Mon-Fri 10am-3.30pm

Citizens Advice Bureau – Provide free information and advice on Legal, money and other problems.

 

Clean Break - uses theatre for personal and political change, working with women whose lives have been affected by the criminal justice system.

 

Hardman Trust (Prisoner Funder Directory) – Directory of organisation that provide funding to (ex)prisoners.

 

Howard League - Penal reform charity in the UK.

 

Koestler Arts Project – Promotes the arts in prison, exhibit and sell artworks by offenders, detainees and high security patients.

 

National Extension College - Runs distance learning courses that can be studied for in prison.  

 

PACT (Prison Advice and Care Trust) - Supports people affected by imprisonment. Provide practical support to prisoners' children and families, and to prisoners themselves.

 

Prisoners Advice Service 0845 430 8923 - Provide free legal advice, information and assistance on an individual and confidential basis to prisoners in England and Wales regarding their rights, particularly the application of the Prison Rules and conditions of imprisonment.

 

Prisoners' Education Trust - Whilst Prisoners’ Education Trust’s primary focus remains with providing funding for distance learning courses, over time the Trust has developed other projects which tackle key areas of interest – young offenders and offender learning policy, research and reform.

 

The Nia Project - Provide support services and refuges for women and children escaping physical, sexual and emotional abuse. Including support services for women involved/wishing to exit prostitution. service.

 

Women’s Aid  - National charity working to end domestic violence against women and children.

 

Womens Resource Centre - Supports women’s organisations to be more effective and sustainable, by providing training, resources and support to women's organisations and campaigning and lobbying on key issues for the sector.

 

Law Centre Federation - Legal action for the community, champion free legal advice and representation.  Seeking  justice for the most disadvantaged in society by supporting and developing the national network of Law Centres

 

St Mungos – Supporting homeless people in London and the south. They run emergency services - including street outreach teams, emergency shelters for rough sleepers and hostels.

 

Crisis – National charity for single homeless people. Including Crisis SmartMove which is a nationwide network of best-practice model deposit schemes that provide non-statutory homeless people with access to good quality accommodation in the private sector and support to sustain this as a home.

 

Against Violence & Abuse – AVA provides a range of services to organisations and agencies working in the voluntary and statutory sector as well as to individual practitioners.

 

Refuge – National charity provide support and refuge to women experiencing domestic violence

 

WomenCentre, Calderdale and Kirklees - one stop shop offices based centrally in Halifax Calderdale and Huddersfield Kirklees,  provide outreach support services to women and children throughout Calderdale and Kirklees.

 

Rights of Women - is a women’s voluntary organisation committed to informing, educating and empowering women concerning their legal rights.

 

Eaves – is a London-based charity that provides high quality housing and support to vulnerable women. Carry out research, advocacy and campaigning to prevent all forms of violence against women.

 

Cast – is a holistic service of education, training and employment advice to women offenders, women at risk of offending and women with mental health or substance misuse problems.

  

Anawim - Supports women and their children, especially those vulnerable to exploitation, including prostitution; to provide wider positive choices. They work within Birmingham, Eastwood Park, Drake Hall and other women’s prisons, in court and in Bail hostels.

 

Hibiscus - Supports foreign national women in prison.

 

Positively Women - national charity providing support for women living with HIV by women living with HIV
