More about our TRAINING

Women in Prison provides training to criminal justice sector professionals and others working with women affected by the CJS.

Our training course aims to improve agency responses to meeting the needs of women affected by the CJS by providing those working with women affected by the CJS with awareness, knowledge and an understanding of the impact of imprisonment upon women.

Tailored training courses are also available to organisations upon request.

All of our training is informed by the women we work with and our own 30 years experience of advocating and campaigning on behalf of females affected by the CJS. Our perspective is grounded in women’s experiences of the criminal justice system. However, we give voice to their experience within the wider social cultural context and within the statutory and political framework of the criminal justice system.

This training is designed to inform the work you already do. We will not tell you how to do your work; rather we provide this training in view that you will incorporate your new awareness, knowledge and understanding into the work you currently do.

If you would like more information or to speak with someone regarding training queries, please contact us at: training@womeninprison.org.uk

We have received fantastic feedback from previous delegates attending our training citing..

“the interactive exercises demonstrated clearly the practical difficulties faced by women leaving prison and the cumulative effect of negative experiences in their lives” ...

“Trainers were very enthusiastic and open to discussion, they are particularly knowledgeable because they are front line workers and could relate things to the research”

"Excellent course, would recommend to colleagues”
