Employment Caseworker (London)
£24,786 – £26,361 pa (35 hours per week) funded until 31st December 2011.
Within The Piano Project, a new national project funded by NOM’S/ESF, for ex/offenders supporting them into education and employment. Your role will involve the provision of information, advice and guidance to women both in prison and in the community, whilst empowering them to access education, training and employment opportunities. You will have experience of supporting vulnerable women into work and of formulating individual action plans with clients regarding employment/education goals. With excellent communication and assessment skills you will have a sound knowledge of the possible impact of imprisonment on women and their ability to access employment.
Employment Caseworker (Based in HMP Foston Hall)
£21,786 - £23,361 per annum (35 hours per week) funded until the 31st of December 2011.
You will be an experienced employment Caseworker, with a minimum of 2 years experience of working with vulnerable women and extensive knowledge of delivering information advice and guidance.
You will co-ordinate the various aspects of employment support, including the provision of employment-related information, advice and guidance, to disadvantaged women in custody. You will enable women to access education, training and employment and facilitate access to mainstream provision in the community.

Your role will involve the provision of longer-term, casework advocacy and support to women offenders upon their release into the community. Responsive to the individual needs of women, you will develop individual support plans that address their mental health, housing, domestic violence, substance misuse and financial needs. With extensive experience of supporting vulnerable women with a range of complex needs, you will also have experience of undertaking detailed needs/risk assessments and knowledge of the possible impact of imprisonment on women and their families. An interest in or experience of working with women with mental health needs is desirable.

These roles involve assertive outreach and one-to-one support to women offenders; in prison, at courts and upon release into the community. You will provide targeted assertive outreach, one-to-one support and group-based interventions to women under 25 who have been in contact with the criminal justice system, with a particular focus on gang-related offending. Significant experience working with vulnerable young women will have equipped you with key skills to effectively and creatively engage with this client group. Responsive to complex, changing needs of young women, you will provide intensive advocacy and casework support in prison, in court and the community. You will need to demonstrate effective communication skills and understanding of the impact that contact with the criminal justice system has upon young women and an NVQ3 in social care (or equivalent).
