Wanted: Ministerial Champion for Women in the Criminal Justice System
There are lots of measures we need this new government to take to reduce the women’s prison population and decrease the damage that prison does in women’s lives. As an initial step we are urging David Cameron and Nick Clegg to appoint a Ministerial Champion for Women in the Criminal Justice System. The previous Ministerial Champion provided visible leadership, helped make sure that women in the criminal justice system were on the agenda and was instrumental in securing funding for projects working to keep women out of prison.
Join us in writing to the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister to urge them to take this simple first step in the early days of their government.
Tell Other People What You Have Learnt
Women in Prison is trying to make sure as many people as possible know the facts about women offenders. Please help us by telling your friends about the reality of women offenders’ lives and the work Women in Prison is doing to support individual women and campaign for the changes needed in the system.
