07/09/2012 - Scottish Prison Service: Women in Custody Following the final report by the Commission on Women Offenders in Scotland,  the Scottish Government's response made clear its committment to improve the situation for women in the criminal justice system in Scotland. This consultation document deals with some key recommendations about the way women are accomodated and managed while in custody.

A high proportion of women offenders and ex-offenders have experienced domestic or other gender-based violence. The Mayor’s role and responsibilities should be used to improve support for women offenders and ex-offenders who have experienced gender-based violence, increase their safety and prevent re-victimisation.

31/05/2009 – Response to the Bradley Report: a review of people with mental health problems or learning disabilities in the criminal justice system
The Bradley Report issued on 30 April does nothing to challenge women’s invisibility in a prison system designed for men. This response contains information and recommendations that should be incorporated into the government’s plans to improve conditions for people with mental health problems and learning disabilities in the criminal justice system.  
  
29/05/2009 - National Violence Against Women Strategy
A high proportion of women offenders and ex-offenders have experienced domestic or other gender-based violence. The first National Violence Against Women Strategy presents an opportunity to direct authorities to improve specialist service provision for women affected by the criminal justice system.
